Dear Readers, I found a few quiet moments in the morning while Evangeline was napping, so I snuck downstairs for some "me" time. By no means would anyone call Orwell's classic 1984 a "pleasure read" but having time to do something intellectually stimulating during the day gives me great pleasure. Soon enough, the cat nap ended, and I was back to serving my muse. She was wide awake and smiling and I was still in a pensive mood from reading Orwell, so I thought, let's grab a book and read! I proceeded to grab the most interesting looking book that I could easily find on her bookshelf, so I found Gomi's Everyone Poops. Yep. Evangeline snuggled on my lap and smiled as I turned each colorful page and learned about the digestive systems of different animals. Despite the topic at hand, it was a beautiful moment between mother and daughter. Since becoming a mother I've become calmer and less serious. I don't get wound up about frivolous things like I used to. I'm not as nervous as I thought I would be as a first-time parent. Maybe this is where the age factor comes into play a little bit. I laugh more because let's be honest, infants do ridiculous things sometimes. I'm starting to see the world through her eyes. Needless to say, it was a morning of literary contrasts. Having a contented little girl on my lap, smiling as we read together in the living room is a fond memory and far from dystopian.
