Dear Readers, Since becoming a mother I've become more... a lot of things, but open-minded and inquisitive come to the top of the list. Just like an infant, my world has become full of wonder, and I find myself learning new things with Evie. I had nearly four decades of living before starting this journey, but motherhood has ignited a deeper love and connection to nature and animals, music, arts and community events and writing (hence this blog). And overall, being content with joys that come with a simpler life. You may call it a more bohemian lifestyle, perhaps. I want Evie to know how thankful I am for this gift. Every day, I watch Evie discover her fingers and toes and the way that they move. I watch her process the sweet and sour taste of a clementine and determine if she likes it. I see her internalize the beats and rhythms during music class and clap. I observe how she intently watches the librarian read and sing during story time. I see how interested she is in all the colors, shapes, sounds, mirrors and exhibits at the local science museum.

As I watch Evie discover the world, I am also experiencing it in a new way, through the eyes of a ten-month-old. The wonder of a child has become the wonder of me. This is one of my favorite aspects of early parenthood.
