Dear Readers, They say it takes a village to raise a child. Nearly every time we open the front door there is another box on our step or UPS truck in our driveway. Handmade blankets, quilts, hats, sweaters, bibs, toys, favorite books and other special baby items that carry nostalgic value.

Ever since we were in the hospital, we welcomed help from the experts and were not bashful about asking questions. Our heart instantly grew with our tiny babe,

but we were also nervous about bringing her home. One thing that comes with age is knowing enough to acknowledge what you don’t know and speaking up when you are willing to accept help from others.

So, this week I say a warm thank you for the gifts that carry personal meaning to you and your families. Evangeline already has quite the village.
